Rare Pair Of 18thc Derby Porcelain Cherub Candle Sticks / Holders Kerzenhalter For Sale
For sale is a pair of candlesticks made by Derby around 1770. They are of a pair of cherubs - a lady one holding a flaming heart and the male holding a bow and arrow. They have a superbly modeled base and the boccage is top quality! Lots of nice detail and I took plenty of pictures. The male one is in great condition with just a little bit of chipping to the top leaves of the boccage and some flowers in the same area and his hair. The lady has a bit more damage with a large branch of the boccage missing on the right side as well as some of the scrolling of the base on that side. She also has a piece of her front base reglued and the candleholder has an old metal repair to the underside where it connects with the base. While they make a superb pair I am unsure if they always were because he has some puce in the decoration on the base that she does not but that might just be a painters preference. Either way a superb pair to display around the house! They are about 7 inches tall, 6.5 inches wide and 4.25 inches deep. Neither is marked underneath the base but that is the norm during this period!
