Rare Restorable Antique Ge Cast Iron Fan Fluted Base Motor Last Patent 1901 For Sale
Here's a great "barn" find for the fan collector! This is a very early GE fan base and motor. This unit seems to be very complete with the original switch on the base and all internal wiring is there. The fan shaft also turns freely. I truly wish that I had the appropriate fan and guard for this piece as it's quitestunning. Of course the original wiring will need to be replaced, and the electric motor will need to be serviced, but how often do you see one of these? The last patent date that we can find on the unit is June 25, 1901 (the first one is May 17, 1887)! It looks like all the original brass nuts and bolts except one are still there. The brass identification plate is a little hard to read, but probably will polish nicely. This unit could also be used as a boat anchor as it weighs 20 pounds unpackaged! The unit seems to have been stored in a dry place as there is no rust or corrosion, just missing paint.
Good Luck offerding!
