Rare Shelley SWEET PEA 11721 Queen Anne trio.C.1930.
Pattern No 11721 Sweet Pea: Black print. Blue sweet peas with black stems, tendrils, and green leaves on small panels. Tiny black dots above sweet peas. Stylised black leaves on panel joins. Yellow and black motif on large panel. White ground. Mauve edges. Entered in pattern book 1930.
The shape of this trio is the Queen Anne shape. This shape was first introduced in 1926.
All 3 pieces are in excellent clean pristine condition with nochips,cracks, scratches or rubbing.There are are absolutely no signs that this set has ever been used except for display purposes. The side plate has some clean all over micro crazing which is virtually invisible to see even using an eye glass. This results in a duller "ping", the cup & saucer "ping" true. There is no fading to the pattern and all paintwork is in excellent order (as good as the day it was made)
The backstamp is the 1925-1940 green cartouche.
Approximate measurements:base of cup 36mm (1.4 inches) /across top 73mm (2.9 inches) / height 71mm (2.75 inches)/ side plate 161mm (6.3 inches) / saucer 135mm (5.3 inches)
