Rare Vintage Penguin Walking Foot SINGER Walking Presser Foot #160741 This sale is for the extremely rare singer walking foot, called the "Penguin". It is so called because of the motion it makes when used. The walking foot was designed to feed the top layer of fabric at the same speed as the lower layer. As the needle goes up and down it makes the foot feed the upper fabric along with the lower fabric. This producessuperiorstitching which, by the nature of thetexture, surface, or weave tend to ease,stretch, or adhere when stitching. It is also recommended for stitching leather. This foot is sought after by the owners of the Featherweight, but it also works on all low shank machines except the 66-1. The condition of this foot is excellent. It comes with original box and instructions. The copyright date on the instructions is 1953. This foot appears to have had little use. This foot is a must for quilters. I find that with any thickness of the batting or when piecing the top, I have to use this to make those wonderful points match up!
