Rare Victorian Field Surgeons Pocket Campaign Scalpels Edinburgh 1880 Boer War:

This is a fascinating pocket set of surgeons instruments, made in Edinburgh c1880 at the time of the Boer War. It comprises three scalpels, a piercer and a 'chain and hooks' instrument in a fitted mahogany box with an inset nameplate to the top (not engraved). The scalpels all have an Edinburgh maker's mark which is difficult to decipher but could read W.LLIARI or WILLIARD. original Abney's level, designed bySir William de Wiveleslie Abney in the 1870s and made by Elliott of London in the 1880s. A very similar set can be seen at The Old Operating Theatre Museum in London. This set is being sold WITHOUT RESERVE and with a 99p start price. Please note that this item isapproximately 130 years old and has been used.
