Although this is a rare thimble please note before you offer that it is sadly far from perfect.
Mid nineteenth century tall sterling silver souvenir pictorial thimble. Plain knurled top over a deep border with a representation of Dover Castle...and a bunch of seagulls. The lettering DOVER CASTLE at the top of the border is rubbed though legible. Though unmarked the thimble tests as sterling. The thimble is not perfectly round at the opening and has a series of holes around the body which you can see in the photos. I counted 10 needle holes! Height approx. 2.7 cm; internal base diameter approx. 1.5 cm; weight 4.3 grams.
Although the thimble has no maker's mark I should add I have seen a few of similar design with George Unite's GU mark so he is a likely maker.
