This an absolutely fabulous rare Victorian era ca. 1860’s 14K yellow gold pocket watch chain with exceedingly rare gold bearing quartz bars. Gold-quartz is very rare to find and here we have 6 double-sided log links that are framed in 14K yellow gold. The links are topped with quality made hinges then are linked together with smooth oval bands. The chain is 13” long with a swivel clasp on one end and a large spring ring at the other.
The quality of the craftsmanship on this piece is outright superb
Although we have no direct provenance on this piece it appears to be from the time of the California gold rush of 1849 where beautiful veins of pure native gold were found embedded in white, rose and dark quartz. In this piece we find all the colors of quartz mentioned here.
