Rare Ww2 Shrapnel Shell Exploded Brass And Alloy Fuse London Blitz Home Front:
This is an unique Home Front relic.
It is a Second World War exploded (anti-aircraft?) shell nose Fuze from the London Blitz.
It is made from very heavy brass and alloy and the lower part has obviously been subject explosion damage – although the fuse ring remains.
The fuse ring is marked “No. 199 IV VAD 11/39 – VAD 2/40 355”
Considering it has been fired from a gun and probably exploded near a German aircraft! it is in remarkably good condition.
The base diameter is 5 cm and it stands 9 cm tall.
