The Maui Marine Art Expo is hailed as the major showcase of contemporarymarine art created by some of today’s finest artists. Hailed as The Island Event of theSeason, the Expo has grown to become the largest art exhibit in Hawaii, and is nowregarded as the largest marine exhibit in the world. Recognized both locally and internationally,the Maui Marine Art Expo has received two Hawaii Gubernatorial Proclamationsand has been cited by The Cousteau Society for generously contributing to theirworldwide efforts to promote marine awareness and address Environmental concerns.Presented at the elegant Maui Inter-Continental Wailea, the Maui Marine Art Expoexhibits over 600 juried works of art created by 16 carefully chosen marine artists.Virtually every artistic medium is represented, including paintings in watercolors, oil,acrylic, and glass; lithographs, etchings, and posters; and sculptures in wood, bronze,porcelain, stone, and even gold. Many of the artworks have been created expressly forthe Marine Art Expo.Expo producer Gary Koeppel attends to every detail of this special event – fromselection of the artists and their works, to the advertising and promotion, to the improvementof the site and installation of the show.
INFORMATION BELOW ON SEVERAL OF THE ARTISTS THAT SIGNED:
Jean Michel Cousteau is the son of Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Simone Melchior. Cousteau first dived with an aqua-lung in 1945 when he was 7 years old. Although he went to school to study architecture, he became part of his father's Cousteau Society, serving for twenty years as executive vice president before striking out on his own in 1993 to produce Environmental films
Margery Spielman is an accomplished Environmental artist who has exhibited her paintings in numerous Marine Art Expos, including those in Monterey, Maui, Kaui and Paris.
Gayle Bright Appleby is an artist who creates in many media. .Gayle has been designing and sculpting exquisite miniatures for most of her life and has devoted over 30 years to studying wildlife in America, Africa and Australia. She extensively researches each idea exploring game reserves, zoos, oceans and aquariums. She can be found in libraries and bookstores or observing humpback whales and dolphins from her kayak in the waters near her island
Raymond Page, was a highly talentedCalifornia Artist and master of the Sea, he spent years mastering the techniques of the old Masters.
Bob Talbot has inspired wonder in people around the world for over twenty years with his photographs of whale and dolphins
