Description

Stunning antique Italian micro mosaic necklace with highly unusual crossed ring design set in white metal.
This is hung on a beautiful long vintage, faux pearl & brass chain.

This is a very fine, early example of micro mosaic jewellery. We have never seen this kind of shape or design before.
It is likely that the piece was originally a brooch/ pin but has been converted into a pendant at some point in its long history.

The necklace looks absolutely amazing when worn long, or doubled up and worn shorter.

Make sure to offer on this very rare, super fine micro mosaic.

Details

Period/ Age: At least 100 years old.
Would estimate from Edwardian- Art Deco period.
1900-1930.

Hallmarks: No hallmark, but the piece is almost certainly of Italian origin like all of the other super-fine micro mosaics.

Materials: Tiny glass tiles (tesserae) set in white metal (most likely to be silver, but can not be sure as there is no hallmark).

Weight: approx. 21 grams total. Dimensions: Length of chain from end to end- approx. 40cm
Size of central pendant- approx. 6 x 2 cm Condition:
Overall in excellent ready-to-wear condition.
There are a few stones/ tesserae missing from the rectangular shaft- particularly from the central section.
However, this is covered by the rings above so not very noticeable.
There is also some wear to the metal on the reverse where it must have been converted from a brooch to a pendant.
