Original navy cloth blindstamped with an image of a tank, with title stamped in gilt, the deluxe binding variant which folds into an integral slipcase and stand.

First edition, an appealing copy of the book that contains what is perhaps El Lissitzky\'s most celebrated photo-collage, a four-page fold out featuring Stalin and Trotsky reviewing the Red Army inset inside a red star. Printed entirely in cyrillic and abounding with photographs showing everything from mustachioed Red Army cavalrymen to gas-mask-clad members of the infantry massing for an assault and airborne troopers descending from the sky. Described by Parr in The Photobook as \"the book version of one of those memorable May Day parades.\" A triumph of the Russian avant-garde.
