About Tamar and other Earlier Metal Workshops in Israel (from 20 Metal workshops operated in Israel in the years 1950's -1970's,
and created a variety of home decor arts and crafts, souvenir and gift
items. The Israeli Metal Arts and Crafts Industry
offered an affordable, decorative art for the new immigrants of Israel,
and appealed also to Jewish people living outside of Israel (mainly in
the US), and to tourists and pilgrims who later came to visit the Holy
Land.Most of the these workshops closed during the 1970's, and
these beautiful works of art are becoming rare and collectible worldwideAntique Jewish European designs,
and Oriental, Eastern and North African influences can be seen in many
of the works.The motifs were mainly taken from the Holy Bible
but also from daily life of the young country of Israel, such as dancing
people, girls with a water jug and more.Biblical & Religious motifs
- Jerusalem, the Temple Menorah, Star of David, the 12 tribes of
Israel, Moses, the Ten Commandments, and other biblical images /
stories.Materials The
materials used were simple and not expensive - mostly casts of Metal
alloys such as brass and copper, with varieties in finish and additional
ornaments such as color enamel, semi precious gemstones, and hand
paintings by Israeli
