The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high-quality, reproduction print of a stunning 1886 art poster for Prang's Christmas Cards. This early American print captures the warmth and joy of a Renaissance Christmas celebration. The medieval color and style make it ideal as an Early American home Christmas decoration. A brightly attired renaissance couple celebrates the holiday by dancing in front of a roaring fireplace. The couple dance underneath large mistletoe branches held by another couple. At their feet is a single red and white rose. A frame of holly berries surrounds the dancing couple. This is truly a magnificent Early American art print.

HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE: This is one of the earliest American Christmas card posters. L. Prang & Co., Boston, Massachusetts, produced the poster about a decade after introducing the first Christmas greeting card to America. That earned Prang the title Father of the American Christmas Card. Prang was born in Silesia and apprenticed as a textile and print maker. A short-lived revolutionary career forced him to flee, eventually bringing him to Boston just at the time when there was a growing demand for color chromolithographs. Soon he was producing maps, business materials and, eventually, reproductions of art works for use as home decorations. L. Prang Co. produced the first American Christmas card in the mid 1870s and the rest is greeting card history.
