René Lalique designed his \"Cigognes\" (storks) vase in 1926 and it was manufactured only between 1926 and 1931. It has therefore become quite rare and the RLalique.com website, a gold mine of mostly accurate information, only mentions 3 sold by saleeers since 2011. There have been two versions, one enameled and the other with a colored patina and this is one patined in blue. The patina has held remarkably well with minimal wear. The vase is bulbous, almost spheric with a V shaped neck, 18 cm (7.2\") tall and 16.5 cm (6.6\") at the opening. It is signed R LALIQUE in raised letters under the base, with the words \"France\" and the reference N 965 hand etched (photo 9).
\"Cigognes\" is repertoried and photographed in the Marcilhac large book, the unofficial \"Lalique Bible\", on page 432 of the 2011 french printing, under reference 965 (photo 10).
The vase presents very well and the overall condition is good but there is an internal crack which does not reach the inner or outer surface, a break about 3\" long (photos 6, 7 and 8, the same line seen at different angles). The vase holds water very well, there is no structural danger. Also, a tiny inside bubble from origin is near the signature (photo 9). The price has been very reduced to account for the condition.
This vase is not often seen, here is an opportunity to acquire one affordably.
