Researched Soviet Russian Order Of The Red Banner # 184673 Medal 1945 Ussr For Sale
Researched Order of the Red Banner to Senior Lieutenant Fadeyev
This is a great Soviet Order of the Red Banner, serial number184673, awarded to Senior Lieutenant Mikhail Vasilyevich Fadeyev, with digital photos of Fadeyev's record card, the Red Banner's award sheet, and Fadeyev's four service records (including his personal photo shown above) from the Russian Ministry of Defense Archive. Everything except the service records comes with English translations. The documents and translations will be emailed to the winning buyer.
TheRed Banner was manufactured at the Moscow Mint in July 1945 and was awarded onFebruary 25, 1945.It is in excellent condition, but the enamel on the left and right arm of the central star is damaged, see photos. The rest of the enamel shows just some very minor wear and some flaking along the edges. The suspension has at some point been replaced with an aluminum one. The connecting link could also be a replacement.
Born on November 10, 1908 in theMordovian Autonomous Republic, Fadeyev joined the Red Army in October 1941. For the remainder of 1941 he received his training and in January 1942 he was sent to the front. He served as a rifle squad leader until he was wounded in March 1943. After his recovery he attended a Junior Lieutenants' Course, and starting in the fall of 1943 he commanded a sapper platoon. In March 1944 he was given command of a sapper company, and shortly thereafter he was promoted to Lieutenant. He was nominated for an Order of Lenin in January 1945 (which was subsequently downgraded to an Order of the Red Banner):
During the breakthrough of the enemy defenses near the settlement of Szydłów in Poland during the night to January 12, 1945, Lieutenant Fadeyev's company enabled the passage of the most forward rifle battalion of the 1035th Rifle Regiment through enemy engineering obstacles. The company cleared 8 passages through barbed wire and 16 passages through enemy minefields, removing 156 anti-tank mines and 210 anti-personnel mines. Having led the rifle battalion of the 1035th Rifle Regiment through the passages without any losses, Lieutenant Fadeyev personally escorted our tanks and self-propelled guns through the passages, where he was wounded and sent to the medical unit. On January 20, 1945, during the crossing of the Oder River near Leidesdorff in Germany, Lieutenant Fadeyev's company in a night built a crossing across the ice, which was reinforced with wood over a distance of 150 meters, which aided the crossing of the rifle regiments of the 280th Rifle Division, 840th Artillery Regiment, two attached mortar regiments, and the 350th Rifle Division. During the construction of the crossing across the ice, Lieutenant Fadeyev was lightly wounded for the second time. For capably leading his company and for selflessly carrying out his tasks, Lieutenant Fadeyev deserves the Order of Lenin.
During his career Fadeyev received two more orders (the Order of the Red Star and the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd Class) and two campaign medals. He was decommissioned in April 1946.
The reserve price is $335.
