The Auto Union Type C Grand Prix car of the late thirties was well ahead of its time, its layout being much the same as todays versions. It was mid engined, with a mid mounted fuel tank for constant weight distribution throughout the race and the driver seated well forward in the car. Engines varied from 3 litre V12 to six litre V16 developing as much as 550 bhp. This abundant power combined with swing axle rear suspension and low grip tyres of the day made for interesting handling characteristics and was the achilles heel of this significant race car.The wheels and tyres are particularly good, with accurate Engelbert race tyre pattern on the rubber tyres plus the very best pre-constructed wire wheels you will ever see. These wheels are all metal and pre-assembled by Revival with a patented process, the spokes are very fine and to scale and the metal hubs and rims are very realistic - together these wheels and tyres really finish these models off beautifully.Features:- Predominantly made from diecast metal. - Metal bodyshells are pre-painted in authentic Silver. - Other parts are from plastics, rubbers, resins, machined metal or diecast metal as appropriate. - Much of the construction is by screws or nuts and bolts. - Accurate Engelbert race tire pattern on the rubber tires. - Pre-constructed wire wheels.
