Revolutionary War Sword...Most probaly of French Origin approximately c1785....Sword similar smallsword that George Washington is shown wearing in famous contemporary painting!!Condition good...has some wear to blade and hilt...comensorate with great age though...a wonderful piece full of history. Sword is a smallsword worn by officers of rank as a sign of rank. Blade is triangular in shape ( a triangular blade causes more tissue damage when pierces and less likely to heal wound) Slight hilt extension missing as evident in pictures...not uncommon in a sword used!??. Sword is 38 inches in length, blade is 31 1/2 inches in length...blade is 3/4th inches in width at the widest point. Lastly the blade has a considerable amount of the original scrolling decrative engraving very visible in the blade itself. For sale......Good Luck offerding.
