Another small bio on the artist:

Examples of Richard Gabriel Chase\'s artistic vision are sprinkled across San Diego County. His murals depicting scenes of the county in the 1830s turned the drab interior walls of banks into vibrant history lessons. His much-sought-after portraits and commissioned paintings hang in the homes of many of San Diego\'s most prominent residents. Fourteen of his portraits of famous aviators are on display at the San Diego Air & Space Museum at Balboa Park. His work has been featured in publications of the San Diego Historical Society. Mr. Chase, a longtime resident of the Hidden Meadows community north of Escondido, died December 11, 2007from complications of pneumonia. He was 88. Art was his whole life, said George Silides, a friend and neighbor of Mr. Chase. He talked about very little else.Silides said Mr. Chase was adept at several techniques, including the pallet knife and the paintbrush. He was meticulous about getting details of his historically themed works correct. He researched everything down to the belt buckles, Slides said. Mr. Chase often painted his own face onto the characters in the many murals he completed over his 64 years as an artist. One of his most impressive works is a collection of murals and super-size canvas paintings at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, which opened on the San Diego waterfront in 1992. The massive artworks were completed while Mr. Chase was in his late 60s and early 70s. He had a zest for life and a positive outlook that helped bring out the best in those who were fortunate enough to surround him, local hotel magnate Doug Manchester said. He was a very down-home person, but very worldly and sophisticated in his art.Mr. Chase was born in Massachusetts on Feb. 11, 1919. He began his art studies at the Worcester Art Museum School and earned a bachelor\'s degree in art from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. After serving in the Army during World War II, Mr. Chase moved to California and taught life drawing and portraiture at San Bernardino College. Early in his career, he was employed as a commercial artist for the Walker Scott department store in San Diego, drawing clothing and other line art for advertisements. One day, the company president told Mr. Chase he was too talented to be wasting his time as a commercial artist. He fired Mr. Chase but gave him a year\'s salary as severance, with instructions to pursue his destiny in the fine arts. He wanted my father to have an opportunity to work on his own art, said Deborah Chase Roberts, Mr. Chase\'s daughter, who also is an artist. Mr. Chase teamed up with his first wife, interior designer Sara Martin Chase, while both were employed at Walter Broderick & Associates in La Mesa. They supported each other\'s careers. He did the paintings and murals, while she focused on interior decorating, on many occasions for the same clients. They were quite a dynamic duo, Roberts said. They were married for 25 years until Sara\'s death in 1973. He is survived by his second wife, Ruth Chase of Escondido; daughter, Deborah Chase Roberts of Texas; and four grandsons.

We believe in 5-star service! So please, onlyleave positive comments and5 stars for all DSR scores. The system actually considers \'4\'s and other scores asunacceptable andpunishes those sellerswith higher fees, severely impacting their ability to list merchandise. Once a seller falls below the performance threshold they are blocked from selling, and the bargains and greatfinds that buyers have come tolook forand expect disappear. If you intend to leave a neutral, a negative, or anything other than a 5 give us a chance to resolve your concerns first. Our phonenumber and email address are in every listing. Also, please remember thatshipping charges for Parcel Post, Priority Mail, etc. are constantly on the rise and shipping delays due to Post Office cutbacks are common. While these costsmay seem expensive to you and any delays unreasonable; I don\'t control them; so don\'t leave a low score just because of this.

California residents add 9.75% sales tax.

I amvery rural and ourPost Office is only open a few hours each day. They are closed for lunch;occasionally when the clerks are doing deliveries; and at 4PM weekdays. Plus closedSaturdays, Sundays and all Holidays.Needless to say the USPS cutbacks have hit us harder than just about anywhere else. Sometimes it can be a challenge just to get something mailed!

The Post Office significantly raised package shipping fees 2 years ago and have another increaseplanned forJanuary 2014.Currently, packages weighing over 13 ounces and up to approximately 5 pounds are the most expensive to ship on a per pound basis. Parcel Posttothe East Coast in some casesruns $107.16 not including insurance or delivery confirmation. These are the packages mostpeople ship, so the PO makes atidy windfallon these lighter class shipments.Furthermore, rates are not charged by weightand distance alone. A three tier multiplier is used to calculate the volume of all packages over 12\"x12\"x12\". The first tier; up to 83\" length and girth combined; is a small per pound surcharge based primarily on the actual weight for medium-sized packages. Once a large packagemeasures between 84\" - 107\"though, you pay for a \'balloon rate\' 20 pound parcel, or for the actual weight, whichever is more. If you exceed this dimensional allowance and ship a very large package between 108\" - 130\", you pay for 70 pounds regardless of the actual weight. For example, shipping a brick to New York will cost you$9.92, but a very large 24\"x 24\"x 24\" box weighing3 pounds with a pillow, will cost $107.16.

Iship via USPS Parcel Post or Priority Mail; whichever is less; within 1business day 90% of the time, but sometimes delays are unavoidable. I will keep costs as low as I can, anduse the best care reasonably possible to ensure safe delivery of your merchandise. Per rules,U.S. purchases areshippedwith a delivery confirmation tracking number for your protection.Surprisingly, Postal insuranceno longeroffers online tracking, soI only purchase it for delicate and high value articles. If youprefer expedited shipping or special services, just let me know before you pay and I will send you a revised invoice.

Normal delivery times for Parcel Postare usually7-14 business days to the East Coast, but sometimes longer depending on the availability of USPS contracted trucking services and weather conditions.

FedExor Greyhound Busshipping of large or heavy items will be automatically declaredat full value and sent insuredwhenever possible, but due to their distance from my home (70+ miles round trip), it may take an extra week before I can get to town and ship your item(s).

Since now requiresthat sellerslist a shippingamount in advance; I generally use flat rate shipping quotes to the Midwest. This is the fairest cost approach for everyone. East Coast zones 7 and8 rates are higher and Iwill pay anydifference. All items are custom packaged after the sale when I have a destination address. Please understand that there are simplytoo many variables involved in packing collectibles for safe transit to be 100% accurate. Insome cases your total shipping cost will be less depending on the carrier used and Ican issue a PayPal credit.I utilize many different shippers to save you money and can usually accommodate special requests.

I am a \'Green Shipper \' andtry to use recycled boxes when available, andalso buy the new, more expensive Environmentally friendly Styrofoampeanuts and bubblewrap.

International buyers are welcome to offer and I will ship most merchandise anywhere in the world. Please understand though;thatafter 9-11Foreign shipping became very expensive and that the Post Office now offers only Priority and Express airmail. Allinexpensive serviceswere cancelled via sea mail (ship ), including Parcel Post surface, M-bags, Book Rates, Library Mail, Periodicals, and Media Mail. Parcel Post airmail was also cancelled, so the only option left for very large packages is Express Mail

Foreign buyers should therefore request a shipping quote before placing a offer.

Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These costs are the buyers responsibility. Please check with your countries Customs Office to determine what these additionalfees will be prior to offerding / buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight / shipping company, or when you pick the item up. Do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as gifts. US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior. Customs delays are normal and packages can take weeks longer to arrive than estimated by the Post Office or by the system. This delay will depend entirely on your Countries backlog and inspection procedures, so please be patient. If you are not happy with the merchandise, contact me immediately by email or phone to see how we can resolve the deal to our mutual satisfaction before leaving neutral or negative response. I will be as fairas I can, and generally offer a 7-14 day return policy less shipping and 15% for costs. You are responsible for return shipping charges. Large lots and collections are sold as is and are not returnable for any reason. I will do my best to accurately describe lots for sale, but on occasion I make mistakes or simply can\'t explain every detail you might want to know. If you have any questions, ask them before placing a offer and I will reply promptly. All positive response is greatly appreciated and I always reciprocate, but ask that buyers post it for me first since this is the only way I know that your satisfied.PLEASE DON\'T offer IF YOU WILL NOT COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION. CHANGES IN AND PAYPAL POLICY HAVE DRAMATICALLY INCREASED THE FEES TO SELLERS AND CHANGED THE ALLOWABLE TIME AND CIRCUMSTANCES UNDER WHICH COMMISSION REFUNDS ARE PERMITTED. IT IS ALSO UNFAIR TO OTHER buyers WHO REALLY WANTED THE MERCHANDISE. PROMPT PAYMENT INSURES THAT BOTH PARTIES WILL BE HAPPY WHILE MAINTAINING THE GOOD WILL AND INTEGRITY MOST PEOPLE HAVE COME TO EXPECT FROM .
