Dionysus God of Wine Maenads Plaster Relief Richter ArtCraft 1956
This Mid Century Modern plaster relief sculpture depicts the image of the Greek God of Wine Dionysus with his lover one of the Maenads. According to Greek mythology, Dionysus was sometimes depicted as he is shown here, young and very sensuous. He is also the God of fertility. Dionysus was said to have invented wine and the women followers were depicted in mythology in flowing diaphanous gowns as his lover is wearing. The two lovers are set in between curving scrolls and clusters of grapes. Dionysus also spread the art of tending grapes which is used for making wine.
This plaster relief is signed Artcraft with the number 1533. This is the maker Richter Artcraft from Toledo Ohio. In 1956 William Breyfogle and Theodore Richter formed the company Richter Artcraft. They were friends in high school and began selling nationwide cast art in plaster. This is one of their first pieces made since it is plaster relief. This is a plaster framed image in a two dimensional format. In 1970 the company closed it's doors.
The plaster is oval in shape and the background is an off white with gold accents around the frame. There is a blue green robe behind Dionysus with the pink dress of his lady and of course the green leaves and red grapes.
Measuring approx. 17" x 14" and approx 4" deep. There are some places where the plaster has flaked off but this is a very small portion of the wall sculpture. Please take a look at the photographs as they do show the quality of the piece. The plaster relief has a metal wire hanger set within the plaster back ready for hanging.

We include lots of photographs and ask our customers to look carefully at these pictures as they are a critical part of our sales as you our customers cannot hold the piece in your hands when you buy online. Since we stand behind the authenticity of all our items. Should the item received fail to be in the condition we have described, we will gladly refund the shipping cost of the item back to us. For shipments in the USA all of these items are shipped insured with delivery confirmation. We will list the tracking number of your order once shipped into your account. Since all domestic items shipping into the USA are insured please email us if there is damage to your items as we will file a claim on your behalf. Please see the notes below on damages for more information on what to do.
Please note since we are a Corporation we do uphold the letter of the law and our business practices are followed carefully. For example on International orders this means we list the value of the items on customs papers and items are recorded as merchandise sold. We will also pursue every legal option open to us should something unexpected occur - from the moment your payment clears until the item is received.

Return Policy & Instructions for a Return
If you should for any reason wish to return a purchase we will provide a refund on the purchase price less the cost of the original insured shipping and insurance after the customer has: 1) E-mailed Ladyslippers-C.D. Miner Inc. within three days of receiving it and of their decision to return the piece 2) Has shipped the item back to us the next business day - in it's original condition and at their own cost. 3) Item must be returned and received by Ladyslippers within 14 days of customer contacting Ladyslippers C.D. Miner,Inc.

We are very easy to work with and if you have a problem please email us immediately. We include a tracking number within the sale so our customers can track their own shipments if required. Please refer to your order for this information once it is shipped.

We accept:: PayPal Visa/MC: our shop is a Business account and thru Paypal you may use your credit card to pay us too.
We ask for payments within three days of the end of the sale.
Continental USA Only: For shipments in the USA we include insurance and delivery confirmation. Once a customers payment has cleared and we've shipped the item we include the delivery confirmation number and carrier name in the customers order. This way the customer can check the status of the order thru the carrier's web site if desired or simply know the order is en route to them.
We ship most items thru the USPS which recently increased rates for shipping both International and Domestic.
For Domestic Shipping we include delivery confirmation and insurance with all our shipments which adds to the cost of shipping. We usually box glassware in a double box if plate glass is used and extra cardboard effects the weight and costs more. We use bubble wrap to protect the sale item and this is expensive too.
We charge actual costs for shipping and if possible Yes we will combine like items that fit in the same Package or envelope or box if multiple sales are won and ship to the same address.
We sell and ship world wide for most items. Insurance is in addition to these amounts when shipping overseas and will be quoted on an individual basis. International rates thru the USPS have greatly increased and for items over 2 lbs. in weight we find it necessary to pack the items for overseas shipment first since every ounce counts. We charge actual costs plus packing costs for our International orders too.
International orders shipping into countries with International Priority Mail or First Class International Mail.Larger items are quoted individually.
International Buyers Please Note: * Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. * Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to offerding/buying. * These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. * We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as "gifts" - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior.
Since we sell vintage and antique items packing is critical since the items cannot be replaced if broken or lost.
Please note these items on our site are subject to a prior sale, occasionally there can be a delay in marking items sold.
We pack all of our items extremely carefully in order to minimize the chance of damage during shipment. For Domestic Orders (USA) Should the unthinkable happen and your order does arrive damaged, please keep the entire order ( all contents and the origional packaging material (boxes,packing material etc.)). Next please email us telling us exactly what was damaged and include a photograph of the damage if possible then we can go to the U.S. Post Office to file a claim on your behalf. ( Yes we file the claims for you but need your information to do so.)The U.S. Post Office will return the claim to us for processing. Please don't repack and don't mail the damaged items back to us. This will void the U.S. Post Office insurance and we will not be able to provide you with a refund. We have found things run very smoothly when these steps are followed. We will also keep you updated on the claim status at all times.
Order Processing Policy:
After you place an order or win the sale, you will receive an emailed confirmation (invoice) that your order was placed. If your payment is not received within these three days then the hold will be removed from the item and the item (s) will be returned to stock. Current applicable fees will be charged in case of bounced checks. Normal shipping and handling time is one to two business days after your payment is cleared. We ship as quickly as humanly possible and will email you in case there are delays in shipping your order.
The only exception to the above return instructions is if the item received is not as we described. In that situation we will offer to pay the shipping cost in the same manner it was shipped to the customer for the return of the item to us. We do not pay for return shipping for buyers remorse.

Insurance and Delivery Confirmation is required and included for all domestic shipments the the USPS. International orders shipping via USPS First class mail have the option of using registered mail service which provides a secured method of tracking for the item. If the International buyer does not want to purchase this registered service then they must be willing to accept 100% risk should the item be lost or stolen. On International shipments with Priority Mail via the USPS there is insurance available now too for this service.
