Ron Scharf California 1950's Modern Studio Pottery Mini Vase Tackett Humor Rare For SaleA whimsical and very rare mid-century modern art pottery miniature bud vase by Southern California ceramic artist Ron Scharf. Glazed terra-cotta with a smirking positive/negative face, probably from the 1950's. Humorous mid-century Eames/Knoll/Raymor/Nelson Era California modernism from what I would consider to be the same primitivist "school" as LaGardo Tackett, Edmund Ronaky, etc. - he definitely had something to do with Tackett because a number of his pieces are remarkably similar. Scharf's work is pretty scarce. Don't miss out on this plus the other Scharf pieces I will be listing soon (see pics.) This sale is for the bud vase only.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are two very tiny glaze flakes on the black part of the "nose" where the gloss has flaked off which are hard to see.
Signed "RON SCHARF / 595".
