Being offered from my personal collection is a beautiful
and rare Boxer Puppy dog figurine made by Rosenthal, Bavaria. It was designed by the artist Theodor Kärner
It measures 3¼” tall, 3” long. The figurine is beautifully glazed. The fine porcelain figurine is
in excellent (mint), like new condition with no chips, cracks, nicks, bruises, stains etc.
This dog is true to form, found in
it's natural colors, posed in a sitting position with his head tilted to one
side. The details on this figurine are exceptional.
Rosenthal of Germany is famous for
their top quality fine porcelain china, and animal figurines. Rosenthal pieces
are compared with the finest German porcelain manufacturers, including: Nymphenburg,
Meissen, Allach, Hutschenreuther and Dresden.
This piece has the Rosenthal Classic
Germany hallmark with “Handgemalt"on the bottom of the dog.
Kaerner (1884 Hohenberg Eger - 1966 München), is recognized as one of the most
versatile & outstanding artists for animal Figures. He
created many wonderful porcelain dog figurines for Rosenthal, and several other
top quality German companies.
Karner joined first Hutschereuther for a ceramic education then he moved with
his parents to Munich and visited
the Academy of Art in Munich and studied under Wadere and Zuegel. Karners first
designer job was with Nymphenburg where he created numerous beautiful figurines.
Then he worked for Rosenthal and Rosenthal Bahnhof. He was one of the lead designers in the
German Nazi Porcelain Manufacturing company Allach. After the Second World War,
Theodor Karner worked as the head of the design department at the Bavarian porcelain
manufacture Eschenbach (Efchenbach). From 1952 until his death he joined again
