Route 66 Complete Set 9 Authentic Signs

    Size Comparisons

    16" Wide and 16" Tall

    Description-
The song Route 66 begins with Chicago where the highway began at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Jackson Avenue at the shore of Lake Michigan. It motored west to end at the shore of the Pacific Ocean at Santa Monica, CA. Over 2,000 miles it meandered through the country being eventually also known as The Mother Road. It was also popularized by John Steinbeck's novel "Grapes of Wrath" about a family's journey from the dust bowl of Oklahoma to California. Then in the 1960's a television series named Route 66 ran featuring 2 guys and their Corvette. However, by 1972 the road was decommissioned as a US highway. Much of it had been overpaved by various segments of the Interstate System.

Many businesses are still operating today along the old roadside. If you travel it, try to stay with these historic venues and feast with them as well. It will enhance your enjoyment and insure that they continue to survive. When I traveled it in my childhood I was fascinated with all the different accents of the people where we stopped. It demonstrated to me what a diverse country we have.

Complete set of all 8 state signs PLUS BONUS of ROUTE US 66 sign. You will get 9 Signs for the price of 8 -- $280.00. Our signs are so authentic they are made in a factory that made signs for states in the 1930's and 40's. The same machine and dies that were used then are used today. An American business, family owned, just like mine.

These signs are made of 18 gauge steel, deep embossed, enamel painted and baked, conforming to the U S standard for highway markers as defined in 1929. Sign is 16" by 16 1/2" at the points of the shield. We include an excerpted copy of the manual that applied, free with your sign.

Bullet holed, rusted, bent signs purporting to have been in front of Uncle Herb's farm sell for $200-$2000. Our signs are modestly priced at $280.00. #SET66
