Pay close attention to the decorative neck of the matte white vase . . . when we get to it. I love it! The Christmas plate is one of those Christmas plates, but it is from 1983, and that’s the year they finally arrested that personification of evil, Klaus Barbie. It is also the year Bjorn Borg retired and Hulk Hogan stomped the Iron Sheik, regaining his world wrestling title.
Yep, ’83 was a big year for news, but I’ve been a little hacked off ever since because of one event. Pope John Paul II named 18 new cardinals on February 2nd of that year, but I’ve looked everywhere, and I can’t find out what he named them. You’d think they’d publish a list of something like that.
BOTH PIECES ARE PERFECT
Got a second? What country comes to mind when someone mentions collectible Christmas plates? Right! Denmark. The funny thing about that is that most Danes aren’t religious. Christmas is just a cultural event. Oh, there are a few people over there who hold to one type religion or another, but most, like me, if they ever go to church, you can bet they’re having a bake sale.
More images and commentary continue below my three "Prime Directives:"
1st: I never, under any circumstances, use a reserve, and rarely do I ask for an opening offer of more than $9.00 (sometimes even less).
2nd: I never end sales early.
3rd: I don’t usually clean, repair, or otherwise monkey around with anything. I push enough dust aside to expose any flaws, but if I discovered it in some dusty attic, you can look forward to a little dust on it when it gets to your house. If it has a flaw or a wart, I'll tell you about it.
So rest easy and have some fun.
My preferred method of payment is PayPal.
