All Royal Copenhagen Christmas Plates are 7” in diameter, unless otherwise stated. Each plate made from 1908-1952 is inscribed with the year and ”JUL” or ”Julen” which means Christmas in the Danish language. From 1953 to the present, only the year is inscribed on the plate. Small quantities of the Royal Copenhagen Christmas plates were inscribed with a variety of different languages for the word ”Christmas”. Weihnachten is the german word for Christmas; Plates with this word were produced from 1908-1944. Noel is the French word for Christmas; plates with this word were produced from 1909-1944. Vanoce is the Czechoslovakian word for Christmas; plates with this word were produced from 1909-1943. Kerstmis is Dutch for Christmas; plates with this word are said to have been produced in both 1931 and 1932, eventhough collectors have yet to see one from 1932. English Christmas plates were produced from 1910-1941.
