Royal Doulton Koala Bibelot The French term bibelot means a trinket or small fanciful object and it was used in the 1920's and 30's by Royal Doulton to describe ashtrays, ring trays, soap dishes etc. that had a whimsical theme.These salt glazed stoneware items are today some of the most keenly collected items that were produced at the Lambeth factory.
This adorable example featuring a koala in a gumtree was was designed by Harry Simmeon in 1934. Simmeon was among Doulton Lambeth's most popular artists. Condition is excellent. There are no chips, cracks or restorations, or other obvious signs of wear and colours are clear and bright.
