DESCRIPTION:

Satan is a heavy metal band originating from Newcastle, England in 1979, known as part of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal movement. The band is considered influential for playing a form of proto-thrash/speed metal that was fairly advanced by the standards of the early 1980s. Their line-up has undergone a number of personnel changes and even name changes; for a time the band was called Blind Fury, putting out one album, 1985\'s Out Of Reach, under that moniker before reverting to Satan. In 1988, the group changed its name to Pariah, releasing two albums under that name before folding in the early 90s. They would later spark back into life, but that is well beyond our timeframe here.

Their debut album, Court In The Act, contains an opus of song-writing, superior arrangements, and jaw-dropping talent. It received some due justice as a re-issue on Universal International\'s 2009 release, N.W.O.B.H.M. The Hall Of Fame Collection. That was long, long overdue, though, considering the vintage of this album dates to June, 1983; Metallica\'s Kill `Em All was released July, 1983, and Slayer\'s Show No Mercy in December, 1983. So, Satan\'s Court In The Act actually preceded those ground-breaking releases. It\'s an album much different than those two, and in some ways better. There is something unique about their sound, maybe it\'s the guitar sounds coupled with the singing style, or the way it\'s arranged and mixed, something that distinguishes this from other similar recordings of the time. It\'s not really thrash and it\'s not really speed metal, but at the same time it IS thrash and it IS speed metal. The tempos are fast, but not Slayer Reign In blood fast. It\'s heavy, but not thunderous, and yet . . . it IS thunderously heavy. It\'s a weird album, one that seems to fall outside traditional boundaries. In some respects it defies classification. This re-release includes eight bonus tracks, which gathers early odds and sods including their debut single from 1982, Kiss Of Death, originals fetch $200+ on the collector’s market, to make this an excellent package and port of entry if you’re new to this band. Any way you slice it, Satan\'s Court In The Act was a monumental metal release, one that deserves a reassessment and wider appreciation.

SS or SLD: Still Sealed or Sealed. Short abbreviation that will appear in the title line of my listings. This item is new and unplayed. Also appears in the listing description as Sealed CD or Factory Sealed CD.

NEW CD: This item is new and unplayed, but was received from a supplier without being shrink wrapped or cellophane wrapped; more common on imports but also many of the smaller independent US labels do not seal their CDs; some have it both ways (for which I have no prior knowledge of or choice when placing my orders). Other companies use resealable clear outer sleeves which are used on some import and domestic releases. If I receive an item this way it will be shipped as I received it and not opened up. Items received unwrapped are placed inside of a resealable clear outer mylar sleeve at the time they are received.

All CDs that do not come in an outer packaging wrap are inspected by me prior to shipping. It is not unusual to find small imperfections in the disc, especially on European manufactured CDs; these small imperfections do no affect the play of the disc. If, for any reason, a disc does not play it is fully guaranteed by me and is returnable for refund or replacement (see my return policy below for more details). Also an unsealed jewel case may show light signs of warehouse/transit storage wear. If a jewel case is received by me broken, it will be replaced with a new jewel case before shipping; sealed CDs received with cracked/damaged jewel cases will be noted as such in the above item’s description and will be opened up and replaced at the buyers request at the time of purchase (otherwise they will be shipped as is).

OOP: Out Of Print.

MIX: This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group\'s/artist\'s music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album\'s tracks having predominantly one style.
