A Victorian British 1837 pattern Brunswick sword bayonet made by Enfield. The piece is in good condition and would I feel please any buyer looking to add to their collection.

The bayonet measures 26" long, with a broad, fullered blade of 24". The all-brass handle and crosspiece are both good though show signs of age and wear with some overall surface marking and a degree of smoothing. The release button moves easily, while the spring needs a little final push to return flush to the handle.The crosspiece is stamped 1054 to one side. The blade remains in good clean condition though there are areas of light surface pitting in places. While the edge does not appear to have been sharpened beyond its original factory finish, a fingernail run along its length does reveal areas of unevenness and one small loss. The ricasso bears the makers name of Enfield; though this is rubbed, as is the adjacent crown and VR monogram.
