This is a vintage Scottish sterling silver ice or very large sugar tongs in the desirable King or Kings pattern, for sale to the high buyer. Please see my store and my other listings for more silver items. This beautiful serving piece features long tongs with shell spoon ends and the gorgeous Kings handle, with a hand and dagger mark on the rounded end. The inside is hallmarked with the town mark of Edinburgh, the rampant lion, the thistle of Scotland, the date letter Q for 1847 (as far as I can make out) and the young Queen Victoria's head. There is also the maker's mark J. LAW or JIAW in a rectangular punch. You can scroll down to see more photos.
This beautiful tongs measures 5 3/4" long, and weighs a substantial 2.1 oz (60 gr) on my little scale. It is in very good condition, with normal signs of use and some tarnish. For silver jewelry, antique sterling and interesting antique and vintage items, please see my other sales.
