This is an antique set of six art nouveau sterling silver buttons made by William Redfern, for sale to the high buyer. Please see my other listings for more English and other silver items. These beautiful buttons feature an art nouveau floral design, with an iris I think. They are quite small and may have been intended for a young girl. They come to you in their original box with a burgundy silk and velvet lining. They are all hallmarked with the lion passant, the town mark of Chester, the date letter B for 1902, and the maker's mark W.R. for William Redfern, of Everton Road, Sheffield. These fabulous little buttons measure just 1/2" across and weigh .2 oz (6 gr) together on my little scale. They are in very good condition, with normal signs of use and some tarnish. There are no bends, dings or dents. The dark areas you see are reflections from my camera. The box has wear along the edges as might be expected, but the interior is nice, and the latch and hinge are in good working order.
