Signed Ss Chinese Export Silver Dragon & Bamboo Antique Visiting Card Case Nr For Sale

This stunning antique card case measures 77mm (3'') x 45mm (1.75'') and weighs 44 grams. It is marked to the inside of the friction fit lid with the Chinese character mark for solid silver and the maker SS which I think is Sun Shing of Canton and it dates to the 1860's -70's. One side is decorated with bamboo shoots against a fine satin hammered background and the other depicts the sacred dragon chasing the pearl with a central cartouche with the contemporary initials AT. As the photos show the quality of the craftsmanship is superb with great detailing to the dragon and the foliage. It is in good condition with signs of use and one bruise to the edge (photo7) which I am sure a silversmith could easily sort out. A fine example of a 19th century chinese export card case from a good maker.
