This lot consists of a book and a signed letter.

This book is a history and memoir of the city of Rochester, New York.
Henry Clune (1890-1995) was a New York based journalist and novelist.

This book originally belonged to actress Claire Luce (1903-1989).
Miss Luce starred in such Broadway shows as Society Girl, Of Mice and Men,
The Taming of the Shrew, No Foolin', and Portrait in Black.
She was Fred Astaire's co-star in Gay Divorce.
She also made several films, such as Up the River and Lazybones.
(NOTE- she is not to be confused with the writer/politician Clair Booth Luce.)

Included with the book is a signed letter from author Henry Clune to Claire Luce.
Clune states in the letter that he is
arranging for a copy of this book
to be sent to her, and that she is mentioned on pages 311-315.
The letter comes with the original envelope. The letter is typed on stationery with
Clune's name and address printed on it. The envelope also has Clune's name and
address printed on it. See scans to see the letter and envelope.
Also included is an old newspaper clipping about Henry Clune (see scan).
The clipping is from a 1975 issue of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
This is a hardback book, 8 1/2" by 5 3/4", 384 pages.
There is a handwritten note in ink on the title page that states "Claire pages 311 to 315".
There are also some pencil marks on pages 311-315.
The book is in good/very good condition, with some wear to the cover.
