This is for areallylovely little Victorian toothpick box made of mother of pearlwith silvermounts and hinge. The box is Chinese and dates to the early to mid 1800s. It has been delictely engraved on the lid with typical Chines imagery and shows a different insect either side with rural background. The sides of the box are also engraved but with flowers and leaves and even the six small panels that go round the edges of the box are engraved. The silver rim that holds the lid has a lip for opening and the boxis in excellent condition with just one pin hole in the pearl on the base only. It measures 70mm (2.75") x 15mm and stands 12mm (0.5") tall.
