Up for sale is a large but sweet and colorful SILVESTRI PAPER MACHE Christmas GOOSE! I\'m calling it a bowl or display piece... Just right for lots of decorator ideas! Pine cones, yarn balls, possible chips or rolls on your serving table with a napkin inside... Bathroom items such as wash cloths... I guess ideas are endless!??.. It was found at sale so I don\'t know any history or specific age. I believe it has a little age, most likely vintage but can\'t say for certain. It does have the little \"SILVESTRI THAILAND\" sticker on the bottom. It also has handwriting on the bottom \"Hand painted\" with another name in script, not sure if it\'s a name or Thailand?? The pine cones in the last picture are for display only-NOT INCLUDED.. (IF YOU CHOOSE THE BUY IT NOW PRICE I WILL INCLUDE THEM FOR AN ADDITIONAL $4 PLUS THE COSTS FOR ANY ADDITIONAL SHIPPING WEIGHT) .. It does require a large box which makes the shipping seem rather high and it will also have to be packed well.. I also like to include insurance for that extra comfortable feeling!
I would describe it as being in fair to ok.. Bordering on semi-good preowned used condition for an older paper mache item. Typical over the years scuffs, scrapes and wear which may occur on a paper mache item. A few little dings, chips, etc. The worst spot is its nose/tip of beak which is worn off badly on the end.. Also a little on the pointed tail region. This (beak) would be fairly easy to retouch with paint as the shape is still there. A few little chips in the top edge as well as body here and there.. And a few dark spots.. The colors/paint looks good.. Nice and bright, ... But you can see someone has written $25 on the inside of the bowl. (see photos). Its overall a nice old piece with character and history showing, but I always try to be more critical in my descriptions and will not call something mint if it\'s not!...
It measures approx 24\" (2 FEET!) in total length.. from the tip of its beak to end of tail. It\'s approx 11 1/2-3/4\" in width at its widest point across the bowl part. It\'s approx 12 1/2\" in height from table top to tip top of its head.
