Sioux Knife Sheath W/original Knife


Up for sale is an 1880's period 7" long beaded knife sheath. It is 2-1/4" wide and it has a 4" drop making it a total of 11" long. It does have the brain tanned leather on the back. It does have some light bug damage. it has 3 holes on it from that. The top of the sheath still has 2 beaded dangles on it. It is sinew sewn and is a good old period piece. The knife is an unmarked knife. It is bone handled, brass bolster, brass rivets. Tarnish in all the right places. The knife is approximately 9-1/4" long. The blade is 1" wide. It is less than 1/8" thick. A very nice authentic beaded sheath. This is a period relic. We will be selling the contents of the Cecil Beckett Collection here in the next few months on . He lived in Clermont County, Ohio. Cecil was a Secretary for the Ft. Salem Chapter of the Ohio Archaeological Society. He held that position for about 8 years. He was an avid collector. He was a Mechanical Engineer that graduated from the University of Kentucky. Professor Webb was one of his teachers. Of all the years that I knew Cecil I never knew him to say a negative thing about a collector. Which is a rarity in this hobby. He was the type of man/collector that most people should aspire to be. I know he would have wanted his artifacts to be dispersed among the many collectors. I think it would be a great tribute to him and to his fine family.
