Society Of California Pioneers Of New England 1896-1900 Membership Archive For Sale
An original archive of letters and other items relating to the SOCIETY OF CALIFORNIA PIONEERS OF NEW ENGLAND, a group of early settlers in California during the Gold Rush, all of whom later returned to New England and formed to reminisce about the old days of their youth. This grouping belonged to Jonathan Thompson of North Woburn, Massachusetts, a charter member, and dates from 1896-1900. There are four 8 1/2" x 11" printed minutes and notices of coming meetings, two handwritten letters dealing with an excursion by train to California and the difficulty of older members making meetings. Also, several membership receipts and notes, an application for membership and four illustrated envelopes from the Society. 15 items in all. A familiar refrain throughout is the fact that more and more members were dying off, and I assume the Society soon ceased to exist. An interesting and informative archive...Guaranteed original....$4.00 shipping....Over forty years in business. 14 day return. Check our feed backs and buy with confidence.
