Sterling Silver Flower Brooch Made By Hector Aguilar For Coro:
Up for sale is sterling silver flower brooch. This piece was made in the 1940's during the war when silver was scarce. Coro contracted Hector Aguilar in Taxco Mexico to make their jewelry. These pieces are highly collectable and of very fine quality. The piece I have is marked Made in Mexico Coro Sterling. I have a picture of the same piece from a book on silver jewelry and it is attributed to Hector Aguilar and is signed with his HA signature. I don't know if he was making the same pieces for himself and for Coro, but my brooch does not have the HA mark but is definitely made by Aguilar. The brooch is 2 1/8" wide and weighs 31 grams. It is in good condition with some minorscratches on the back from normal wear. Also the pin is bent but still fastens securely.
