Stunning Old Garcia Vintage Cowgirl Silver Parade Show Spade Bit 1956 No Spurs @ For Sale
I purchased this bit at sale and it came from the estate of Renee Gates. Included with the bit was a photo of Renee and Paul Gates from 1956 that shows them in full parade attire, mounted on their horses with this bit in the mouth of Ms. Gate's pinto. (Ms. Gates was a well known rider and horse woman at that time.) The photo is captioned "Los AngelesColiseum Parade 1956." I also received with the bit and photo several pages of research on Garcia Bits and Spurs."Garcia pieces built prior to 1978 are divided into three distinct periods: G.S. Garcia, from 1896 to 1933; Salinas Garcia Saddlery from 1945 to 1958 and Les Garcia, Reno from 1960 to 1978. (The hiatus between 1933 and 1945 was due to a shortage of materials caused by World War II)." Source: Cowboy Showcase. (The photo as well as the three pages of information on Garcia Bits and Spurs are included in this sale.) This bit measures 8 1/4" in length with an overall length of 9 1/2" to the center of the lip bar. The loose cheek mouth has a 5" opening with a copper spade and copper inlaid roller. There is a small indentation on one cheek piece (see photo 2) but other than that, the bit is in beautiful, vintage condition with a wonderful patina. Here is a rare opportunity to add a highly collectible, authentic, marked GARCIA bit (with provenance) to your collection. Offered with . Please see my other sales this week for more vintage bits, headstalls, spurs and other fine collectibles. Buyer to pay $10.95 shipping, which will include a delivery confirmation number. NOTE: If you feel that you will be unable to complete the transaction, please refrain from offerding. It simply isn't fair to the other buyers or the seller. That having been said, I am happy to COMBINE SHIPPING for multiple purchases. Thank you and as always, good luck with your offerding!
