Stunning Victorian Garnet Rose Cut & Cabochon Brooch For Sale
This is a great, Victorian, (gold washed sterling and metal) chandelier type,brooch. There are a variety of differently cut Bohemian garnets. Starting from the top down, there are rose cut garnets set in the shape of a flower, then there is a large oval garnet cabochon flanked by other rose cut garnets of varying sizes. There is a great deal of trim that is composed of tiny garnet cabachons that look like cascading diminutive lengths of garnet chains or ropes. The bottom is a series of hanging garnet tear drops (one of which is missing and one - far left which is a little damaged - see photo).The piece is unmarked. The piece is estimated to be from the mid Victorian period 1860 to 1880 when garnets were fashionable. The piece is in excellent condition however there are five tiny missing stones (three from the top flower that trim the center stone - one from the bottom trim from around the next level down rose cut center stone - one from the "chain" on the right side of the brooch just under the bottom right flanked rose cut stone). The tear drop that is missing is from the far left directly below the center cabachon. Marks... The back of the brooch is unmarkedMeasurement... 1 1/2" wide; 3" vertically from top to bottomCondition... We have very positive response, and this has been based on a practice of unconditional guarantee thatwe are no longer interested in providing- due to changes in policies* which, we believe, left sellers in a vulnerable position.In our experiences a very small percentage of the buying community has taken advantage of this. For example, we have been asked to refund a pocket watch due to a 'suggested' discrepancy of 1/16th of an inch in measurement (this cost us money on the original shipping and return shipping).
