This is a rare bayonet, complete with scabbard, dated and maker marked (lightly visible) frog that looks original to the piece. if youa re lucjy enough to find one of these, they are usually without a scabbard, mismatched with another scabbard or are in generally poor condition. this one is a real beauty. It has an edge to it, but considering the wars its been through etc, I would expect it to. No rust, pitting or damage to the piece at all. The blade is dated and stampoed W (crown) 69 on one side and W Claudberg Solingen G on other. It has a S cypher on the spine. The blade, as I mentioned was sharpened. THe handles are great, double cypher stamped on the pommel, button works great. Just a fabulous bayonet. Now the scabbard is excellent too, has some dents in the brass drag but it is solid. It is stamped S on the drag, is unit marked on the scabbard as the pics show, one was stamped out the other is 14. A.F.3.H.7. I can make out on the scabbard back W 69 and 413. The frog is original, I couldn't get it off if I tried, it dried perfectly on the stud. It is stamped on back I can lightly make out the words and numbers on it, but I find it amazing that this piece is all together original and still like it is. You wont find another set like it anywhere and for you advanced collectors out there, don't sit on it. offer to win or make an offer I can't refuse.
