I\'m not normally a lover of composition dolls, but this oneis ofthe most superb quality, that it could almost be mistaken for painted bisque.He is a lovely German black characterdoll with the markings H W (for Hugo Wiegand). This firm ran from 1911-1930
The doll has the most wonderful expression, with dark brown open and closing eyes, with all lid wax intact.The lips are beautifully painted and he has two lovely top teeth made of porcelain. His hair is moulded in lots of little curls.
It is always difficult to photograph black dolls to get the correct colour, and I would best describe his facial colouring as chocolate brown.
He measures 19\" tall (49cm), and is on his original composition body which is in good condition apart from an old repair to his left foot.
The head is in perfect condition with no paint rubs.
He comes dressed in a lovely pale green cottonromper suit,which he looks gorgeous in.
Please note I welcome overseas buyers but please be aware, to get the parcel size down to the correct dimensions for a small parcel, I will have to detach the head.All it will simplyneed isjust to be hooked back on. With U.K buyers there is no problem as our parcel measurements are more generous.No big problem but please make sure that you accept this before making a offer, if you are outside the U.K.
