SUPERB ANTIQUE HAND CARVED BONE NEEDLE CASE FRENCH DIEPPE EARLY 19TH C C.1820
I may have two days of listings this week so please check again on Friday just in case. I will be selling a very large number of interesting antiques including tribal art, Chinese, Islamic, Indian and European antiques. PLEASE NOTE: This sale is in US Dollars.
This is a fine French needle case, probably of Dieppe origin and carved in shallow relief around the entire body of the case with floral decoration and also the figure of a man (in typical Georgian / Regency dress) and above him the figure of a bird of some description. It is carved from beef or mutton bone ( please note: Not from an endangered species), it dates to the early 19th Century and has an excellent patina from years of handling. A fine collectable sewing item, I am selling it at a very low starting price and with .
Please read down the entire listing for Dimensions, Condition, Postage & Payment Details - most of the information you will need is here on this page but please get in touch if you don't find what you are looking for. Condition & Dimensions In excellent condition externally with one slight split to the body. Internally there are some splits and small chips. The two parts fit together easily.
It is about 4.8" / 12.3cms long.

Postage & Packing For your peace of mind and mine items will be sent fully insured. I will be posting from WEDNESDAY 5TH JUNE to MONDAY 10TH JUNE so please make payment as early as possible. PLEASE be a little patient with the post - I will get them posted asap but I work on my own, often have a fair amount to post and I do pack carefully. I also post in the order that things are paid for.
Any delays by the postal services either at my end or abroad are rarely my fault. I always post out at the latest 3 working days after receiving cleared payment but sometimes an item is slowed up by a backlog of post or delayed whilst being processed through customs. To give you an idea it generally takes about 3-7 working days within Europe and 9 - 14 working days to the U.S. / rest of the world. If speed is of the essence then I can use a courier (DHL / FEDEX etc.) but prices for couriers start at around £30 / £40GBP for the very smallest object and VERY quickly escalate depending on size, weight and destination. Please note also that there has been a considerable hike in postage prices by the Royal Mail this year. I add on very little, often not enough to cover the packaging materials, so the price I quote really is as fair as possible.
UK: 1st Class Recorded Delivery (insured to £50 GBP only): $7.90 USD.
UK: Special Delivery: $12.30 USD.
Europe: Royal Mail international signed for (insured to $77.50 USD only): $15.20 USD. Extra insurance will cost an additional $4.03 USD should you wish to have it. This is a signed for service which offers full or limited tracking (depending on your country).
U.S and rest of the world: Royal Mail international signed for (insured to $77.50 USD only): $16.75 USD. Extra insurance will cost an additional $4.03 USD should you wish to have it. This is a signed for service which offers full or limited tracking (depending on your country) and insurance. Please do not ask me to falsify customs documents, thank you.
Where possible I will of course combine shipping for multiple purchases (however if, for example, you win a walking stick and a box of some description this wouldn't be very practical!). ***Any import duties or taxes applicable are payable by the Buyer. Please enquire with postage queries, requirements or any other questions you may have prior to offerding.***
Payment Details (Important: Please Read)
Rest Of The World: PayPal only.
In the event of a recorded/traceable and insured item going missing in the post I will do everything in my power (provide proof of postage and evidence of value, etc.) to assist in obtaining a full refund from the postal service involved.
