Description Awonderful large very heavy EnglishantiqueGeorgian solid sterling silver "one pint" tankard by the silversmiths Thomas Wallis & Jonathan Hayne, in lovely condition, and with full English silver hallmarks for London 1820.Superb quality genuine early 19th Century silver tankard, handsome large size and with a full one pint capacity. Stunning Georgian baluster shape with silver scrolled handle and resting on a flared circular pedestal base with attractive beaded edge rim. No added engraved presentation inscriptions, has a fine period monogram on the underside of the base. Weighs a heavy442 grams.Measurements Great size, measures approx 5.25 inches (135mm) in height, and is3.75 inches (95mm) in diameter across the middle, (excluding handle). Date Antique Georgian solid sterling silver with a full set of English silver hallmarks for London 1820(date letter "e"). Includes the "crowned leopards head" stamp of the London assay office and the sovereigns duty mark of King George the Third. Excellent clear struck marks.Maker Silversmiths initials "TW over JH", for Thomas Wallis & Jonathan Hayne, active 1810-1820. and ready to be used. No splits or cracks, no obvious repairs and no nasty knocks ordentseither, justtinyage-related surface bruises from normal use, but really nothing much at all and a beautiful large antique silver tankard.The scrolled silver handle is undamaged and is tight and secure.Has a nice clean interior too.Superb heavy piece and made from a thick gauge of silver.No added engraved presentation inscriptions, has afine period monogram on the underside of the base, notvisible unless turned over.Hasa large one pint capacity.
