This is an extraordinary,fineand raresterling silvercastle topcard case created by renowned English silversmith Nathaniel Mill in 1844.In high, projecting relief, the case features Warwick Castle on the River Avon envelopedby detailed scrollwork. The castle vignette projects a full 1/4 in. (6.4 mm) from the flat surface of the case.The other side features similar detailed scrollwork as well as a central C-scroll cartouche with engraved initials. The case opens to reveal a fully hallmarked inner lip, displaying the marks of silversmith Nathaniel Mills, the date (V for 1844), origin (Birmingham), monarch (Queen Victoria), and assay.

The card case measures 4 in. (10.2 cm)in height, 2 3/4 in. (7 cm) in width, and 5/16 in. (0.8 cm/8 mm) in thickness. It weighs 76 grams (2.5 ozs. troy/2.7 ozs.).The case is in excellent condition, as can be seen in the images. The top corners are very slightly bumped; this can barely be seen and certainly does not in any way detract from the beauty of this highly desirable and collectible card case.
