SUPERB ORNATE ANTIQUE 19thC VICTORIAN SILVER PLATED BRIGHT CUT ENGRAVED TEAPOT:

Description:

An antique 19th Century SilverPlated teapot of excellent quality and decorative appeal, with bright cut engraved detail to each side of the body around a central vacant cartouche, dating to circa 1860-70.

The pot has a \'C\' scroll handle with bone spacers, and a beautifully detailed coronet finial. The style of the engraved decoration and thefleur de lysdetail at the tip of the spout would indicate a French origin or previous owner.

The underside bearsstampedmarks and letters, but unfortunately these do not shed any light on the maker.

Condition:

In good to fair antique condition, with wear to the silver plate around the engraved areas, the handle, and the lid, commensurate with its substantial age. There are some shallow dents to the body of the teapot, which has been used and so, as expected, is tea stained internally. The hinge wobbles slightly, and the lid does not sit completely flat. Having said all of this, this is a magnificent early example of antique electroplated ware. Please see the images provided which complement this description.
