A superb quality Americansolid sterling silver folding pipe tamper tool. It is hallmarked STERLING alongwith a makers mark. I would date it by its design to c1940s. It is in superbcondition being free from dings splits and repairs. It measures 2.75 inches (7cms)long closed by 4.25 inches (11cms) long fully open and weighs 20 grams. Anunusually piece sure to appeal to collectors of smoking memorabilia as well asthe pipe smokers.
