Polished micaceous jar with ruffled lip and slight secondary shoulder.
The ruffled lip adds to the beauty and grace of this thin-walled jar.
Mica, found naturally in the clay of this area, can impart a delicate glimmer when directly lit .
Myrtle Cata is known for her micaceous pots that are generally simple
and unadorned wit painting or incising yet sophisticated and focus attention on the pottery form itself,
and its polish, rather than on added decorative elements.
She has won many awards at the Santa Fe Indian Market, the Eight Northern Pueblo Shows,
the Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonials and the New Mexico State Fair.
