SYRIAN SAVONAROLA MOTHER-OF-PEARL INLAID WOOD CHAIR.Inlaid with rosettes and hand carved with scrolling foliage. Measures 41\" high and 16\" wide. Sitting area measures 12.5\" wide(without side knob decoration) and 12.75\" front to back.Some mother of pearl is missing.
Many names of the style of this chair are used such as Savonarola, Dante, Scissors, Renaissance or X chair. This chair was extremely popular during the Renaissance period and the proper name is Renaissance folding chair from the early 18th century. Many hours of hand carving with a chisel went into this chair. A true work of art.
