Scarce, Antique, Ceramic Toothpaste Jar Crock Pot Lid For Sale
Up for sale is this beautiful, pink-background, antique, ceramic, under-glaze transferred toothpaste container or "pot lid" as they are known. This particular example of antique lid was originally made for the British colonies in the Victorian era. So, most of these are recovered in South Africa or Australia. This one was recovered in South Africa and has been in my collection for some time. As you can see, it still retains about 70% of it's original gold band. The lid is in good condition....just a few rust stains on the flange and a small area of hardly noticeable edge wear....otherwise v.good! The base is the original for this lid and features the company logo (see pic.6) The base has 2 chips & some rust stain. The lid measures 3 1/2" in diameter and was produced ca.1880-1890. A great pot lid for your collection, or just to show in some strategic place in your home!
