This listing is for a 34 1/4\"antique vintage hickory shaftiron. It is marked A G Spalding & Bros on the back. Has their Sweetspot mark in the center of the lined face. Marked RU and Paul Runyan on the sole. RU stands for Run Up and is considered a chipper or approach putter. While you see these in steel shafts this is the first I have seen in a hickory shaft as made. Paul Runyan was a successful golf professional who won two PGA Championships in the 1930\'s along with a number of other tour events. He was also a noted instructor. I do not believe this was a Spalding production club and could very well have been custom made for Runyan.If you are a Spalding collector then this is probably the only one you will ever see. This club isingood clean condition. It does have the expected play nicks and dings and some plating wear.Please look at the zoom pictures for a better idea of condition.The shaft is the original oldhickory.It is straight, I see no cracks and is tightat the hosel.All hickory shaft clubs should be re-set prior to play.The grip is the originalold long leather wrap that is in good vintage condition.Has the original acetate grip collar at the bottom and some tape at the top. Also has a prior owner\'s name tag on the shaft. A 0 swingweight and 27* loft for play.
