Very nice early rapier, having a distinctive two stage blade, having hexagonal cross section for about quarter of the length, with two sets of narrow fullers and struck ornaments to each side, the rest of the blade is of diamond section to the tip, all exhibiting nice heavy patina and areas of fine pitting. Steel hilt of the lightened style, having one clam shell guard whith very fine pierced work to it, lacking the finial and with parts of its original wire and a wooden grip, all remaining solid on the tang.overall 39 1/2" blade 34".
